Midway Airport Neighborhood Magnet
Originally named Chicago Municipal Airport, it was later renamed to honor the Battle of Midway in WW2. Midway Airport was once known as "The busiest square mile in the world." Urban sprawl eventually hemmed the airport in, and increasing demand for air traffic necessitated the establishment of a larger airport, O'Hare, to serve the city.
